 Conflict with the Tijuana Cartel: 1989–1993 
 When Félix Gallardo was arrested, the Tijuana corridor was handed over to the Arellano Félix brothers, Jesús Labra Áviles (alias "El Chuy"), and Javier Caro Payán (alias "El Doctor"), cousin of the former Guadalajara Cartel leader Rafael Caro Quintero. In fears of a coup, however, Caro Payán fled to Canada and was later arrested. Guzmán and the rest of the Sinaloa Cartel leaders consequently grew angry at the Arellano Félix clan about this. In 1989, Guzmán sent Armando López (alias "El Rayo"), one of his most trusted men, to speak with the Arellano Félix clan in Tijuana. Before he had a chance to speak face-to-face with them, López was 
killed by Ramón Arellano Félix. The corpse was disposed in the outskirts of the city and the Tijuana Cartel ordered a hit on the remaining members of the López family to prevent future reprisals. That same year, the Arellano Félix brothers sent the Venezuelan drug trafficker Enrique Rafael Clavel Moreno to infiltrate Palma's family and seduce his wife Guadalupe Leija Serrano. After convincing her to withdraw US$7 million from one of Palma's bank accounts in San Diego, California, Clavel beheaded her and sent her head to Palma in a box. It was known as the first beheading linked to the drug trade in Mexico. Two weeks later, Clavel killed Palma's children, Héctor (aged 5) and Nataly (aged 4), by throwing them off a bridge in Venezuela. Palma retaliated by sending his men to kill Clavel while he was in prison. In 1991, Ramón killed another Sinaloa Cartel associate, Rigoberto Campos Salcido (alias "El Rigo"), prompting bigger conflicts with Guzmán. In early 1992, a Tijuana Cartel-affiliated and San Diego-based gang known as Calle Treinta kidnapped six of Guzmán’s men in Tijuana, tortured them to attain information, and then shot them execution-style in the backs of their heads. Their bodies were dumped on the outskirts of the city. Shortly after the attack, a car bomb exploded outside one of Guzmán’s properties in Culiacán. No injuries were reported, but the drug lord became fully aware of the intended message. 
Guzmán and Palma struck back against the Arellano Félix brothers (Tijuana Cartel) with nine killings on 3 September 1992 in Iguala; among the dead were lawyers and family members of Félix Gallardo, who was also believed to have orchestrated the attack against Palma's family. 
Mexico's Attorney General formed a special unit to look into the killings, but the investigation was called off after the unit found that Guzmán had paid off some of the top police officials in Mexico with $10 million, according to police reports and confessions of former police officers.  In November 1992, gunmen of Arellano Félix attempted to kill Guzmán as he was traveling in a vehicle through the streets of Guadalajara. Ramón and at least four of his henchmen shot at the moving vehicle with AK-47 rifles, but the drug lord managed to escape unharmed. The attack forced Guzmán to leave Guadalajara and live under a false name under fears of future attacks. 
He and Palma, however, responded to the assassination attempt in a similar fashion; several days later, on 8 November 1992, a large commando of the Sinaloa Cartel posing as policemen stormed the Christine discothèque in Puerto Vallarta, spotted Ramón and Francisco Javier Arellano Félix, and opened fire at them. The shooting lasted for at least eight minutes, and more than 1,000 rounds were fired by both Guzmán's and Arellano Félix's gunmen. Six people were killed in the shootout, but the Arellano Félix brothers were in the restroom when the raid started and reportedly escaped through an air-conditioning duct before leaving the scene in one of their vehicles. On 9 and 10 December 1992, four alleged associates of Félix 
Gallardo were killed. The antagonism between Guzmán's Sinaloa Cartel and the Arellano Félix clan left several more dead and was accompanied by violent acts in the states of Baja California, Sonora, Sinaloa, Durango, Jalisco, Guerrero, Michoacán and Oaxaca. 
The war between both groups continued for six more months, yet none of their respective leaders was killed. In mid-1993, the Arellano Félix clan sent their top gunmen on a final mission to 
kill Guzmán in Guadalajara, where he moved around frequently to avoid any possible attacks. Having no success, the Tijuana Cartel hitmen decided to return to Baja California on 24 May 
1993. As Francisco Javier was at the Guadalajara International Airport booking his flight to Tijuana, informant tips notified him 
that Guzmán was at the airport parking lot awaiting a flight to Puerto Vallarta. Having spotted the white Mercury Grand Marquis car where Guzmán was thought to be hiding, about 20 gunmen of the Tijuana Cartel descended from three Jeep-like vehicles and opened fire at around 4:10 p.m. However, the drug lord was inside a green Buick sedan a short distance from the target. Inside the Mercury Grand Marquis was the Cardinal and Archbishop of Guadalajara Juan Jesús Posadas Ocampo, who died at the scene from fourteen gunshot wounds. Six other people, including the cardinal's chauffeur, were caught in the crossfire and killed. Amidst the shootout and confusion, Guzmán escaped in a taxi and headed to one of his safe houses in Bugambilias, a neighborhood 20 minutes away from the airport. News of the death of the cardinal quickly circulated across Mexico and the rest of the world.

The legend of Walt Whitman (1819-1892)

 Walter "Walt" Whitman was an American poet, essayist and journalist. A humanist, he was a part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism, incorporating both views in his works. 
 He was born on May 31, 1819, at West Hills, long highland, New York, in the United States of America. He was the second of nine children in a family of eleven. Whitman is among the most influential poets in the American canon, often called the father of free verse. His work was very controversial in its time, particularly his poetry collection, Leaves of Grass, which was described as obscene for its overt sexuality.</div>

At the age of twelve, Whitman began to learn the printer's trade, and fell in love with the written word. Largely self-taught, he read voraciously, becoming acquainted with the works of Homer, Dante, Shakespeare, and the Bible. 
Whitman worked as a printer in New York City until a devastating fire in the printing district demolished the industry. 
In 1836, at the age of seventeen, he began his career as teacher in the one-room school houses of Long Island. He continued to teach until 1841, when he turned to journalism as a full-time career. 
He founded a weekly newspaper, Long-Islander, and later edited a number of Brooklyn and New York papers. In 1848, Whitman left the Brooklyn Daily Eagle to become editor of the New Orleans Crescent. It was in New Orleans that he experienced firsthand the viciousness of slavery in the slave markets of that city. On his return to Brooklyn in the fall of 1848, he founded a "free soil" newspaper, the Brooklyn Freeman, and continued to develop the unique style of poetry that later so astonished Ralph Waldo Emerson.</div>

In 1855, Whitman took out a copyright on the first edition of Leaves of Grass, which consisted of twelve untitled poems and a preface. He published the volume himself, and sent a copy to Emerson in July of 1855. Whitman released a 
second edition of the book in 1856, containing thirty-three poems, a letter from Emerson praising the first edition, and a long open letter by Whitman in response. During his lifetime, Whitman continued to refine the volume, publishing several more editions of the book. Noted Whitman scholar, M. Jimmie Killingsworth writes that "the 'merge,' as Whitman conceived it, is the tendency of the individual self to overcome moral, psychological, and political boundaries. Thematically and poetically, the notion dominates the three major poems of 1855: 'I Sing the Body Electric,' 'The Sleepers,' and 'Song of Myself,' all of which were 'merged' in the first edition under the single title Leaves of Grass but were demarcated by clear breaks in the text and the repetition of the title."</div>

At the outbreak of the Civil War, Whitman vowed to live a "purged" and "cleansed" life. He worked as a freelance journalist and visited the wounded at New York City–area hospitals. He then traveled to Washington, D. C. in December 1862 to care for his brother who had been wounded in the war. 
Overcome by the suffering of the many wounded in Washington, Whitman decided to stay and work in the hospitals and stayed in the city for eleven years. He took a job as a clerk for the Department of the Interior, which ended when the Secretary of the Interior, James Harlan, discovered that Whitman was the author of Leaves of Grass, which Harlan found offensive. Harlan fired the poet. 
Whitman struggled to support himself through most of his life. In Washington, he lived on a clerk's salary and modest royalties, and spent any excess money, including gifts from friends, to buy supplies for the patients he nursed. He had also been sending money to his widowed mother and an invalid brother. From time to time writers both in the states and in England sent him "purses" of money so that he could get by. 
In the early 1870s, Whitman settled in Camden, New Jersey, where he had come to visit his dying mother at his brother's house. However, after suffering a stroke, Whitman found it impossible to return to Washington. He stayed with his brother 
until the 1882 publication of Leaves of Grass (James R. Osgood) gave Whitman enough money to buy a home in Camden. 
In the simple two-story clapboard house, Whitman spent his declining years working on additions and revisions to a new edition of the book and preparing his final volume of poems and prose, Good-Bye, My Fancy (David McKay, 1891). After his death on March 26, 1892, Whitman was buried in a tomb he designed and had built on a lot in Harleigh Cemetery.</div>

Featured profile entry; Ayoola Goodness Olanrewaju

This week featured profile is a poet named, Ayoola Goodness Olanrewaju, he was born in Ibadan, but he is an indigene of Osun State. He studied NCE in English and Yoruba languages at Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He also bagged B.A(ed) in English from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State. 
 As a poet, Ayoola is renown for his vibrant imagery and the poignant power his poetic pieces solely reeks. He has bagged some awards due to this his prowess.  His journey towards poetic freedom started way back in secondary school. 
Then, he never thought he could write any poem, but back in the year 2002, when he was in JSS3; his coordinator, Kola Obadimu (Jnr) who runs a children organization, African Children Voices ( which he was part of), asked them to write a poem for the organization. He did write one and when he saw it, he loved it and encouraged him to write on. He was the first person to call him a poet and right there his passion for poetry was ignited
He afterwards had worked on his poetry and sought every means to get better. Along this progressive journey, Prof. Niyi Osundare had been instrumental to his inspirational drive, so had all the poets he had met on social media
As a poet, he doesn't have any favourite genre as he gets to write whatever inspiration and muse brought to his writing desk. 
In his words he had said 
''When I write a poem or in most of the poems I write, everything motivates me, that includes the environment, mood and every factor that may be involved. I believe for everything, there is a poetry to write''.
Some of his notable moments as regard poetry include: The day, his great friend, Sir Phunso Oris, gave him a treat for his poetry. There were other moments too which he claimed he would also consider his best, and that was the day his poem 'sound of a needle-drop' won the Peregrine Reads Patriot for Change Contest in 2015 plus the Brigitte Poirson Monthly Contests which is anchored by Kukogho Iruesiri Samson in which he made a four-time, top ten finalist.
Ayoola is yet a humble man, when I met him at the WRR festival 2015 he had truly played to the tune of humility without any sort of acting. In his words he had valued his friend's appreciation of his work over any of the poetry prizes he has ever won. 
''I think if I am to name prizes, I would only say that they are the feelings which I get from my poetic expressions and the appreciation from great friends and fellow poets.''
Ayoola dreams to achieve an index of change with his poetry. He thinks, for virtually every poet and art in general the index of change acts as a vital driving force.
He also do prose and drama too, however it is not as regular as poetry. He also can draw a little and play some musical instruments too. However, it is prose he develops next to poetry among his other talents. 
 
Now let's get personal.
Ayoola favourite quote is; 
'do all that you do with all your heart'. He loves children a lot and dislike anything bad. His role model is his Mother.
His best meal is beans and fried plantain. His best friend is Abdul wahab Mariam, which he claims is his great friend in deeds indeed.

Controversy Over the Death of Christopher Marlowe...

Some biographers came up with varieties of murder theories. 
Examples are: 
• Jealous of her husband Thomas's relationship with Marlowe, Audrey Walsingham arranged for the playwright to be murdered.
• Sir Walter Raleigh arranged the murder, fearing that under torture Marlowe might incriminate him.
• With Skeres the main player, the murder resulted from attempts by the Earl of Essex to use Marlowe to incriminate Sir Walter Raleigh.
• He was killed on the orders of father and son Lord Burghley and Sir Robert Cecil, who thought that his plays contained Catholicpropaganda.
• He was accidentally killed while Frizer and Skeres were pressuring him to pay back money he owed them. 
• Marlowe was murdered at the behest of several members of the Privy Council who feared that he might reveal them to be atheists.
• The Queen herself ordered his assassination because of his subversively atheistic behaviour.
• Frizer murdered him because he envied Marlowe's close relationship with his master Thomas Walsingham and feared the effect that Marlowe's behaviour might have on Walsingham's reputation.
 There is even a theory that Marlowe's death was faked to save him from trial and execution for subversive atheism.

Christopher Marlowe, he was baptised on February 26, 1564 and died on May 30, 1593, he was an Englishvplaywright, poet and translator of the Elizabethan era. Marlowe was the foremost Elizabethan tragedian of his day. He greatly influenced William Shakespeare, who was born in the same year as Marlowe and who rose tobecome the pre-eminent Elizabethan playwright after Marlowe's mysterious early death. Marlowe's plays are known for the use of blank verse and their overreaching protagonists. 
A warrant was issued for Marlowe's arrest on 18 May 1593. No reason was given for it, though it was thought to be connected to allegations of blasphemy—a manuscript believed to have been written by Marlowe was said to contain "vile heretical conceipts". On 20 May, he was brought to the court to attend upon the Privy Council for questioning. There is no record of their having met that day, however, and he was commanded to attend upon them each day thereafter until "licensed to the contrary." Ten days later, he was 
stabbed to death by Ingram Frizer. Whether the stabbing was connected to his arrest has never been resolved.  
His early years...

 Marlowe was born in Canterbury to shoemaker John Marlowe and his wife Catherine. His date of birth is not known, but he was baptised on 26 February 1564, and is likely to have been born a few days before. Thus, he was just two months older than his contemporary William Shakespeare, who was baptised on 26 April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. 
 Marlowe attended The King's School in Canterbury (where a house is now named after him) and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he studied on a scholarship and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1584. In 1587 the university hesitated to 
award him his Master of Arts degree because of a rumour that he intended to go to the English college at Rheims, presumably to prepare for ordination as a Roman Catholic priest. However, his degree was awarded on schedule when the Privy Council intervened 
on his behalf, commending him for his "faithful dealing" and "good service" to the Queen . 
 The nature of Marlowe's service was not specified by the Council, but its letter to the Cambridge authorities has provoked much speculation, notably the theory that Marlowe was operating as a secret agent working for Sir Francis Walsingham's intelligence service. No direct evidence supports this theory, although the Council's letter is evidence that Marlowe had served the government in some secret capacity.
His Career as a Writer..

Of the dramas attributed to Marlowe, 'Dido, Queen of Carthage' is believed to have been his first. It was performed by the Children of the Chapel, a company of boy actors, between 1587 and 1593. The play was first published in 1594; the title page attributes the play to Marlowe and Thomas Nashe. Marlowe's first play performed on the regular stage in London, in 1587, was 'Tamburlaine the Great', about the conqueror Tamburlaine, who rises from shepherd to war-lord. It is among the first English plays in blank verse, and, with Thomas Kyd's The Spanish Tragedy, generally is considered the beginning of the mature phase of the Elizabethan theatre. Tamburlaine was a success, and was followed with Tamburlaine the Great, Part II. 
 The two parts of Tamburlaine were published in 1590; all Marlowe's other works were published posthumously. The sequence of the writing of his other four plays is unknown; all deal with controversial themes.
1.) The Jew of Malta (first published as The Famous Tragedy of the Rich Jew of Malta ), about a Maltese Jew's barbarous revenge against the city authorities, has a prologue delivered by a character representing Machiavelli. It was probably written in 1589 or 1590, and was first performed in 1592.
2.) Edward the Second is an English history play about the deposition of King Edward II by his barons and the Queen, who resent the undue influence the king's favourites have in court and state affairs. The play was entered into the Stationers' Register on 6 July 1593, five weeks after Marlowe's death. The full title of the earliest extant edition, of 1594, is The troublesome reigne and lamentable death of Edward the second, King of England, with the 
tragicall fall of proud Mortimer.
3.) The Massacre at Paris is a short and luridly written work, the only surviving text of which was probably a reconstruction from memory of the original performance text, portraying the events of the Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre in 1572, which English Protestants invoked as the blackest example of Catholic treachery. It features the silent "English Agent", whom subsequent tradition has identified with Marlowe himself and his connections to the secret service. The Massacre at Paris is considered his most dangerous play, as agitators in London seized 
on its theme to advocate the murders of refugees from the low countries and, indeed, it warns Elizabeth I of this possibility in its 
last scene. Its full title was The 
Massacre at Paris: With the Death of the Duke of Guise.
4.) Doctor Faustus (or The Tragicall History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus ), based on the German Faustbuch, was the first dramatised version of the Faust legend of a scholar's dealing with the devil. While versions of "The Devil's Pact" can be traced back to the 4th century, Marlowe deviates significantly by having his hero unable to "burn his books" or repent to a merciful God in order to have his contract annulled at the end of the play. Marlowe's protagonist is instead carried off by demons, and in the 
1616 quarto his mangled corpse is found by several scholars. Doctor Faustus is a textual problem for scholars as two versions of the play exist: the 1604 quarto, also known as the A text, and the 1616 quarto or B text. Both were published after Marlowe's death. 
Scholars have disagreed which text is more representative of Marlowe's original, and some editions are based on a combination of the two. The latest scholarly consensus (as of the late 20th century) holds the A text is more representative because it contains irregular character names and idiosyncratic spelling, which are believed to reflect a text based on the author's handwritten manuscript, or "foul papers." The B text, in comparison, was highly edited, censored because of shifting theatre laws regarding religious words onstage, and contains several additional scenes which scholars believe to be the additions of other playwrights, particularly Samuel Rowley and William Bird ( alias Borne). 
Marlowe's plays were enormously successful, thanks in part, no doubt, to the imposing stage presence of Edward Alleyn. Alleyn was unusually tall for the time, and the haughty roles of Tamburlaine, Faustus, and Barabas 
were probably written especially for him. 
Marlowe's plays were the foundation of there pertoire of Alleyn's company, the Admiral's Men, throughout the 1590s. 
Marlowe also wrote the poem Hero and Leander (published in 1598, and with a continuation by George Chapman the same 
year), the popular lyric "The Passionate Shepherd to His Love", and translations of Ovid's Amores and the first book of Lucan's Pharsalia. In 1599, his translation of Ovid was banned and copies publicly burned as part of Archbishop Whitgift's crackdown on offensive material.

Mystery of His death...

 In early May 1593 several bills were posted about London threatening Protestant refugees from France and the Netherlands who had settled in the city. One of these, the "Dutch church libel", written in rhymed iambic pentameter, contained allusions to several of Marlowe's plays and was signed, "Tamburlaine". On May 11 the Privy Council ordered the arrest of those responsible for the libels. The next day, Marlowe's colleague Thomas Kyd was arrested. Kyd's lodgings were searched and a fragment of a heretical tract was found. Kyd asserted that it had belonged to Marlowe, with whom he had been 
writing "in one chamber" some two years earlier. At that time they had both been working for an aristocratic patron, probably Ferdinando Stanley, Lord Strange. 
 
A warrant for Marlowe's arrest was issued on May 18, when the Privy Council apparently knew that he might be found staying with Thomas Walsingham, whose father was a first cousin of the late Sir Francis Walsingham, Elizabeth's principal secretary in the 1580s 
and a man more deeply involved in state espionage than any other member of the Privy Council. 
 Marlowe duly presented himself 
on 20 May but, there apparently being no Privy Council meeting on that day, was instructed to "give his daily attendance on their Lordships, until he shall be licensed to the contrary". On Wednesday May 30, Marlowe was killed.
 Various accounts of Marlowe's death were current over the next few years. In his Palladis Tamia, published in 1598, Francis Meres says Marlowe was "stabbed to death by a bawdy serving-man, a rival of his in his lewd love" as punishment for his "epicurism and atheism." 
 In 1917, in the Dictionary of National Biography, Sir Sidney Lee wrote that Marlowe was killed in a drunken fight, and this is still often stated as fact today. 
The official account came to light only in 1925 when the scholar Leslie Hotson discovered the coroner's report of the inquest on Marlowe's death, held two days later on Friday June 1, 1593, by the Coroner of the Queen's Household, William Danby. 
Marlowe had spent all day in a house in Deptford, owned by the widow Eleanor Bull, and together with three men: Ingram Frizer, Nicholas Skeres and Robert Poley. 
 All three had been employed by one or other of the Walsinghams. Skeres and Poley had helped snare the conspirators in the Babington plot and Frizer would later describe Thomas Walsingham as his "master" at that time although his role was probably more that of a financial or business agent as he was for Walsingham's wife Audrey a few years later. 
These witnesses testified that Frizer and Marlowe had argued over payment of the bill exchanging "divers malicious words" while Frizer was sitting at a table between the other two and Marlowe was lying behind him on a couch. Marlowe snatched Frizer's dagger and wounded him on the head. In the ensuing struggle, according to the coroner's report, Marlowe was stabbed above the right eye, killing him instantly. The jury concluded that Frizer acted in self-defence, and within a month he was pardoned. Marlowe was buried in an unmarked grave in the churchyard of St. Nicholas, Deptford immediately after the 
inquest, on June 1, 1593. 
 
 So many controversies over his death, many believed Marlowe was murdered for one reason or the other. 
 Wilbur G. Zeigler's novel, 'It was Marlowe'(1895) was the first book to argue that Marlowe's death was faked.

 Shakespeare was heavily influenced by Marlowe in his work, as can be seen in the re- using of Marlovian themes in Antony and Cleopatra, The Merchant of Venice, Richard II, and Macbeth (Dido, Jew of Malta, Edward II and Dr. Faustus respectively). 
 In Hamlet, after meeting with the travelling actors, Hamlet requests the Player perform a speech about the Trojan War, which at 2.2.429–32 has an echo of Marlowe's Dido, Queen of Carthage . In Love's Labour's Lost Shakespeare brings on a character "Marcade" (three syllables) in conscious acknowledgement of Marlowe's character "Mercury", also attending the King of Navarre, in Massacre at Paris . 
 The significance, to those of Shakespeare's audience who had read Hero and Leander, was Marlowe's identification of himself with the god Mercury.

Julie Victoria Jones is one of my mentor, she was the first author to open my eyes to the wonder of the fantasy world. Her fantasy trilogy title “The book of words” had already been featured on this site. She was born in 1963 in Liverpool, England as the daughter of a pub owner, in her youth she worked as a bar tender and worked for a record label in Liverpool. She currently lives in San Diego, California, where she initially ran an export business and later occupied a position as marketing director. The current publishers of J.V Jones are tor books in the US and Orbit books in the UK. 
Her first novel “The baker’s boy, which was the first book in the book of words trilogy was published in 1995 and the follow up novels “a man betrayed” and “Master and fool” were completed in 1997. Her next work was a standalone novel which was titled the barbed coil. Her next work was a series titled “Sword of shadows”, which consists of five novels. However only four had been released yet and the remaining one is still work in progress.

Thomas Leo Clancy was born in Rosedale, Maryland, U.S on the 12th of April 1947. He was a reknown novelist in the genres Techno-thriller, crime fiction, non-fiction and spy fiction, from 1969 until 2013 when he died. He wrote several novels 17 of which were best sellers. His latest novel was due to release this december. He was a joint partner in the establishment of Red Light Entertainment later bought by Ubi soft which saw to the release of the classic Tom Clancy games which includes: 
The Rainbow six series 
The Ghost Reckon series 
The H.A.W.X series 
The Splinter Cell series and 
The EndWar series. 
Death 
Clancy died on October 1, 2013, after a brief 
illness at Johns Hopkins Hospital , near his 
Baltimore home. Clancy is survived by 
his wife, Alexandra; their daughter, Alexis; 
and four children from a previous marriage 
to Wanda King: Michelle Bandy, Christine 
Blocksidge, Kathleen Clancy, Ph.D., and 
Thomas Clancy III.  The Chicago Tribune

Stephen Hunter as saying, "When he 
published The Hunt for Red October he 
redefined and expanded the genre and as a

He is a graduate of lautech with B.tech certificate in biochemistry, even as such he has keen interest in graphical designing and has earned certificates to prove his skill. When I asked him how he discovered his talent and how he has been coping with it, this was what he said; 
"It started as an hobby when I was little, to draw objects and to like art. As I grew, I love arts more which made me opt for finearts in secondary school. Being a melancholy, I also like to strive for perfection too which makes my works to stand out among others. Although I didn't go on to study arts/graphics but still have professional certs though.
