PodCastle.com has re-opened this month for submissions. Each week the editors publish short dark fantasy stories in podcast (audio) form.
Editors Anna Schwind and Dave Thompson are open to reviewing:
1) magical realism where the elements of magic are a common occurrence in a true-to-life setting;
2) urban fantasy where stories unfold in a modern time period;
3) slipstream where stories teeter between sci-fi and fantasy; and
4) other dark fantasy sub-genres.
Word count is 2K to 6K words.
Payment: 6 cents/word for original fiction (considered pro-rates for this genre); $100 flat rate for reprints, and $20 flat rate for flash fiction (stories under 2K words). Review previous podcasts to familiarize yourself with story pacing, character development, and progression of a plot. Read submission guidelines
